Indian Navy has successfully undertaken a daring aerial insertion operation onboard Singapore-flagged Merchant Vessel Wan Hai 503, which has been on fire since June 09, 2025 off Kochi. From a Seaking helicopter, the salvage team was winched down onboard the vessel amidst challenging conditions. The tow was successfully connected with the Salvage Tug Offshore Warrior before the team was extracted. Towing operations have commenced. Three Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessels are escorting the vessel while continuing essential firefighting efforts. INS Sharda and an Offshore Support Vessel are actively engaged with ICG & other maritime agencies to augument the salvage ops.
