The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has overseen the destruction of large quantities of dangerous drugs and unregistered medicines, following the finalisation of the respective cases by the courts. The disposal exercise was conducted at Sally Mugabe Hospital and the Chitungwiza Municipality litter dumping site.
According to authorities, the drugs were destroyed in line with provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act [Chapter 15:02]. The consignment included 333.2 kilogrammes of dagga, 293 dagga plants, 214 kilogrammes of unregistered medicines, and 14,140 litres of unspecified liquid medicines.
The ZRP said the operation was part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring that all illegal and harmful substances are safely removed from circulation in accordance with the law.
