Former Cabinet Minister Walter Mzembi will spend the weekend in remand prison after appearing in Harare Magistrates’ Court on Saturday for allegedly defaulting court on three occasions. Mzembi was arrested on Friday following the issuance of arrest warrants due to his repeated failure to appear in court. The former minister appeared before Harare Magistrate Donald Ndirowei, who remanded him in custody until Monday. The state, represented by Tendai Shonhayi, asked for more time to review medical documents that Mzembi presented as a basis for missing his court dates. Mzembi's lawyer, Killian Mandike of Chiturumani Law Chambers, informed the court of their intention to submit additional documents to justify his non-appearance. The inquiry into the defaults was postponed to allow for a proper review of all submissions.
