Devotional 000140 The Meaning of Chayil ✨ Main Scripture Proverbs 31:10 (KJV)
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies."  The word translated as “virtuous” in Proverbs 31 is חַיִל – Chayil, not the typical word for moral virtue or gentleness.
“Chayil” is militant, majestic, multi-dimensional—used 242 times in the Old Testament, it often means: • Army or force (e.g., Joel 2:5, "a mighty army") • Wealth (e.g., Proverbs 8:18, "Riches and honor are with me") • Valor and strength (e.g., Judges 6:12, "Gideon, thou mighty man of valor") This tells us something powerful: God's idea of a “virtuous woman” isn’t just gentle—she is strategic, spiritual, and dangerous to darkness. "And now, my daughter, fear not... all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman (Eshet Chayil).” Ruth’s journey is a blueprint: 1. Chapter 1 – She enters the scene broke, widowed, and landless. 2. Chapter 2 – She works the field humbly but faithfully. 3. Chapter 3 – Boaz sees something divine in her. 4. Chapter 4 – She marries into legacy and births Obed, the grandfather of David. ➡️ She went from survival to significance because of her character, alignment, and faithfulness—not because of status.
Boaz did not call her Chayil after she married him—he saw it before the elevation. That’s your word: You don’t become Chayil after the breakthrough. It carries the essence of thriving power—like a warrior who not only survives battle but takes territory. Prophetic Meaning:
Being Chayil is not just about having power—it's about knowing how to use it for Kingdom advancement.
Chayil is dignified dominion.
Chayil is compassion with capacity.
Chayil is strength under submission to the Spirit.  🔥 RESET Reflection ➡️ Speak aloud with your shoulders back and head high: “I am not weak—I am Chayil. Heaven sees strength in me even when the world sees struggle. I will not live small. I am wealth in motion.
