Counterfeit ₹500 notes rose 37.35% YoY to a six-year high in FY25, even as overall fake notes detected declined slightly to 2.17 lakh. ₹2000 fakes dropped 86.5% after note withdrawal, with 98.24% of such notes returned to the banking system.
