*5 ORGANS EVERY MAN SHOULD CHECK, asides the prostate.*
Men, your health isn’t just about your prostate (even though it’s important).
It cuts across different organs in your body, and today we’ll be seeing 5 of them
*1. The heart*
Men are more likely to die from heart disease, and most times without warning signs.
What do you check for?
- High blood pressure
- Chest tightness
- Shortness of breath during simple tasks
Get your BP, cholesterol and ECG checked yearly (Make it 2x a month for BP)
*2. The kidneys*
Most men don’t realize they’re losing kidney function until it’s serious.
Signs to watch out for:
- Frequent urination (esp at night)
- Foamy or bloody urine
- Swollen legs
What you can do
Get a simple urine and creatinine test done, it could save your life!
*3. The liver*
The liver filters toxins, but alcohol, medications and fatty food can quietly damage it.
Signs to look out for:
- Unexplained fatigue
- Abdominal bloating
- Jaundice (Yellowing of eyes and skin)
What to do: Request a liver function test during your next check up.
*4. The colon*
Colon cancer is rising in men under 50, and many wait too long before they do anything about it.
Signs to watch out for:
- Blood in stool
- Unexplained weight loss
- Changes in bowel habit
It’s important to carry out a colonoscopy from the age of 45, and earlier if you have a family history of colon cancer.
*5. The testes*
Testicular cancer is rare but real. Self examinations matter.
Check your testes once or twice a month for:
- Lumps
- Swelling
- Pain
Go for a checkup immediately you notice something unusual or different.
Bottom line is, most conditions can be prevented and properly managed if we carry out regular checkups, modify our lifestyles and stay aware.
Your body whispers, before screaming.
Go for a comprehensive checkup today.
