*NOW THAT WE ARE ALMOST OLD*
_By Daniel Tusiimukye K’abaasa_
Now that we are almost old enough, we know why Ainembabazi is 40+ with no kids. We know why Turyagyenda is an alcoholic despite his perfect family. We know why Namaganda is home, jobless and suicidal with her perfect body and a Bachelor's Degree from the best University.
Now that we are almost old enough, we know why Ssekitoloko has a well-paying job, but he still stays in rentals. We know why people no longer invite others to their homes. We know why Nabwire has two kids with different fathers.
Now that we are almost old enough, we know why Tumushabe is unmarried. We know why Apio keeps to herself. We know why Opio never goes to Church. We also know why Karyango is always traveling, never settling in one place. We know a lot, and we understand. We understand about religion, Christianity, mental health, marriages and relationships, job opportunities, joblessness and job market, family, toxicity, life...Name it.
Now that we are almost old enough, we know that we don't need to question them. We are old enough, experienced enough, passed through some. We need not Judge. Let's purpose to stay on our own lanes. Won't we?
Now that we are almost old enough, we realize that everyone has their own struggles and challenges. We understand that life is not always easy, and that people make choices for reasons we may not fully comprehend.
Now that we are almost old enough, we should focus on our own lives and our own challenges. We should strive to be the best version of ourselves, rather than judging others for their perceived shortcomings.
Now that we are almost old enough, let's practice empathy and compassion. Let's try to see things from other people's perspectives, and offer support and kindness instead of judgment.
Now that we are almost old enough, we know that everyone's journey is unique, and that comparisons are unfair and unhelpful. We should celebrate our own successes and progress, rather than measuring ourselves against others.
Now that we are almost old enough, we know that mistakes and failures are an inevitable part of life. Instead of judging others for their mistakes, we should offer support and encouragement as they learn and grow.
Now that we are almost old enough, we should focus on building each other up, rather than tearing each other down. Let's create a culture of kindness, empathy, and understanding.
Now that we are almost old enough, we realize that life is short, and that every moment counts. Let's make the most of the time we have, and treat others with the love, respect, and compassion they
