*Probably, he also doesn't want to be there* The Lungu family has alleged that it was the wish of former president late Edgar Lungu that his successor President Hichilema comes nowhere near his (Lungu's) body. Probably, President Hichilema himself wants to be as far away as possible from the funeral proceedings of the former president given the frosty relationship that existed between them. The tussle between the two saw Hichilema arrested and detained at least 20 times, including for treason. But despite what his feelings might be at this moment, HH must not only be present but also provide leadership over the funeral of his predecessor. Not as Hakainde Hichilema who was arrested 20 times, but as the President of the sovereign state of Zambia. This is according to the dictates of the office he holds and the oath of office he took. He owes it to those who held office before him and to those who will come after him and to the 20 million Zambians. Probably to the whole world. There is a lesson here for the Lungu family and the PF in general. Notwithstanding their pain and grievances, they must rise to the occasion and facilitate a national send-off for the *6th Republican President of Zambia* in line with the dictates of the office that he once held. They owe it to the 20 million Zambians. To all of us. The armed and security forces must salute their former *commander in chief one last time.* The 20 million Zambians must bid farewell to their former president. The 1.8 million people who voted for him must mourn the man they adored and believed in. A 'private' funeral can not accommodate all these. In facilitating the expected and deserved national burial procession for the former president, Tasila Lungu, Makebi Zulu, and others will write their names in our history forever as having traded their pain and grievances for their country. This is what 'duty calls' means. This is what leadership entails and demands. It is something one must do even against one's feelings and at one's expense.
