This victory and praise belongs to God cos honestly I don’t really recall much of the first part of the interview.
The 11am squad yesterday was quite a lot and there were only two VOs initially but one joined later around 3 when we were in the queue inside to be interviewed. The process started around 10:30 and I finished mine close to 3:30. Whole interview was less than 2 minutes.
*Interview*
VO: White lady at counter 6
VO: Please pass your documents
Me: Passed them
VO: Why this school and program?
Me: I chose WashU for my MPH with a concentration in Global Helath because of the trans disciplinary courses offered in their curriculum which helps me to gain knowledge in multiple sectors that I can effectively use to solve problems. For why this program, I sincerely cannot remember exactly what I said but I know I heard myself saying something about cervical cancer in there.
VO: Nods and starts typing and I was looking at her.
VO: How are you funding the program.
Me: I was awarded the Brown School Global Health Scholars Award which is an amount of 50,000 usd towards my tuition for the entire program. The deficit is being covered by my late aunt’s company, XYZ which is the largest frozen food company in the country with it’s headquarters in Tema and depots across the country and an annual average revenue of a million and half USD. Before her said passing late last year, I was assisting my aunt, Mrs. ABC with her cancer management, chemo sessions and specialist reviews and she recognized my passion for the subject matter so decided to set aside some funds for my higher education. The company is redeeming this pledge as they also intend to set up a memorial foundation in her name to drive more awareness about cervical cancer, its prevention and management. I will be assisting with execution of the foundation’s mission upon my return
VO: nods and types at intervals throughout my submission then asks
Do you have proof of your scholarship?
Me: Yes and passes my admission letter with the scholarship boldly highlighted
VO: looks at the letter then my I-20 then types a bit then says
Your visa is approved, take this sheet for passport pickup details and passes me my documents with the white slip.
Me: Thank you (with a smile). Enjoy the rest of your day
VO: Thanks
Honestly like I said earlier, it’s all grace. The guy before me going for F1 was denied but I just kept calm and was singing praise songs in my head. Remember, when Jesus says yes, nobody can say no. Keep your prayer life active and God will definitely see you through.
