*OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, GREAT IFE STUDENTS' UNION* *NOTICE OF EMERGENCY CONGRESS AND CHANGE IN VENUE* Great Ife! Our Union stands at a critical juncture. A constitutional aberration has threatened the sanctity of our democratic process and the peace of our student community. The Student Representative Council (SRC), in its recent attempt to constitute the Electoral Commission, has acted in clear violation of the principles of fairness and equity that form the foundation of our Union. Specifically: • Three faculties out of fourteen were entirely omitted from representation. • Some faculties were nominated twice, creating a structural imbalance and stirring unrest across the student body. This gross misconduct contravenes the spirit of Section 7 of our Union’s Constitution which guarantees fair and proportional representation within the student community. As President, and pursuant to S.6(3) of the Constitution of the Great Ife Students’ Union which empowers the President to summon Congress on urgent matters: “Congress shall take decisions on matters which in the opinion of the Central Executive demand urgent attention.
