What do you think of these remarks made by Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary just months before the presidential election? "Anyone who invites you to vote for something already known to be the cause of your suffering is your enemy. Do we understand each other? You know that a particular party has caused you problems: your young daughters remain unmarried because young men have no jobs (no income), despite their many prayers to find decent men. Now, as you know, in our context, a man only becomes “decent” when he has an income-generating activity. But how can they have that when they are rejected in every exam or recruitment they attempt? On top of that, there is no real investment made to support them—they wander in indescribable misery. And in these conditions, someone rises up and wants to force you to vote for a person or a party whose only project is to bring you even more misery. Isn't that a true calamity? Only your awareness can protect you from that calamity. Even if it’s me, Tchiroma, who tells you tomorrow to vote for those responsible for your misfortunes, consider me your enemy. What you see me doing, I do it because I stand in front of you. Tomorrow or the day after, I will be back here among you. Nothing is more precious to me than you. Certainly, we were not able to lift you out of misery yesterday, but today, if we unite, if we come together, we can do it. You will come out of your suffering.
