Just over four months ahead of the presidential election in Cameroon, a legal debate has erupted on the political scene. Christian Ntimbane Bomo, a lawyer and declared presidential candidate, is challenging the requirement of 300 signatures mandated by the Electoral Code to validate a candidacy. According to him, this requirement (outlined in Article 121) is no longer applicable. The reason: the postponement of legislative and municipal elections to 2026, decided by presidential decree, renders this provision inoperative in the current context.
