Maroua hosted the inaugural Paul Biya Grand Prix, an international equestrian competition organized by FECASE and supported by the Ministry of Sports. Held on June 13–14, 2025, at the Lamido Yaya Dairou Stadium, the event featured over 150 horses from Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria, Niger, and Burkina Faso. The Grand Prix not only promoted equestrian sport in the Sahel but also celebrated regional culture, identity, and economic revival.
