Over 4,000 Muslim pilgrims have begun returning to Cameroon after completing the 2025 Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The first group of 316 arrived on June 16 at Garoua International Airport. The pilgrimage, which included key Islamic rites such as Tawaf and prayer at Mount Arafat, was supported by the Cameroonian government with 1.5 billion FCFA in subsidies. Minister Atanga Nji also used the occasion to urge prayers for President Paul Biya as the 2025 elections approach.
