Abdullah ibn Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with him) was among the earliest to embrace Islam. When the Quraysh's oppression became unbearable, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave his companions permission to emigrate to Madinah. For Abdullah, this wasnβt the first timeβhe had previously migrated to Abyssinia with some of his family.
But this time was different. It was on a much larger scale. Abdullah, along with his family, relatives, and many othersβmen, women, and childrenβleft everything behind in Makkah and migrated for the sake of Allah. His entire clan had embraced Islam and joined him in this noble journey.
Not long after they left, the Quraysh leaders began searching through Makkah, trying to identify which Muslims had migrated. Among them were Abu Jahl and Utbah ibn Rabiβah. As they passed by the homes of Banu Jahsh, Abu Jahl noticed the silence and emptiness. He shouted mockingly, βThe houses of the Banu Jahsh are empty and mourning their owners!β
Abdullah ibn Jahsh had owned one of the most beautiful and valuable homes in Makkah. But he gave it up willingly for the sake of Allah. Seizing the opportunity, Abu Jahl broke in and took everything that remained.
When the news reached Abdullah in Madinah, he mentioned it to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet responded, βArenβt you pleased, O Abdullah, that Allah has given you something betterβa home in Paradise?β
With a heart full of faith, Abdullah replied, βYes, O Messenger of Allah.β From that day on, he never looked back with regret. He was content, knowing that while he gave up a house for the sake of Allah, he gained a palace in Jannah in return.

What we sacrifice for Allah is never lost. He replaces it with something far betterβif not in this world, then surely in the next. Stay firm and trust in His promise. ποΈ
