The Eastern Cape office joined Sonke Gender Justice together with other stakeholders in a dialogue held at the BooiFarm community in Ward 24 yesterday. The dialogue aimed to address the scourge of GBVF and sexual offences in the community. Community members reported abuse and neglect of elderly persons and long tavern operating hours, which lead to an escalation in crime, including rape and other issues that have a negative impact on their livelihoods. The Commission’s Provincial Manager, Nceba Mrwebo, outlined the CGE mandate and urged community members to utilise the Commission's legal services to follow up on some of their concerns and complaints.
