The North West office held an information dissemination session with farm workers, owners, and community at Amalia in the Mamusa sub-District yesterday, to share the findings of the CGE's research report titled: Do women reap what they sow? The experiences of women farm workers. The session was to educate the community and farm owners about gender rights, labour Law, and GBV and sexual harassment at the workplace, and also provided reporting mechanisms available to farm workers. " Farming communities are vital to South Africa's economy. But they cannot thrive without justice and equality. Farm workers are entitled to fair wages, regulated working hours, safe working environments, adequate rest, leave benefits, and decent living conditions. Farm workers, especially women, must be safe, respected, and empowered to work without fear," said the Provincial Education Officer, Tsholofelo Sabole. The following stakeholders supported the session: Mamusa Local Municipality, CCMA, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and SAPS.
