Who says women can’t lift weights?
Born in Kurung Kumey, Arunachal Pradesh, Hillang Yajik has lifted far more than just barbells. She has lifted hopes.
Yajik trained hard, qualified, and cleared national selection trials held by the Indian Body Builders Federation and the Bodybuilding Association of Kerala in Ernakulam.
That opened doors to the Asian and World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2024.
But her biggest moment came at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2025 in Thimphu, Bhutan, where she made history.
At just 24, Hillang won gold in Women’s Model Physique (up to 155 cm) and silver in another category, becoming the first woman from Arunachal Pradesh to win an international gold in physique sports.
Every lift and every sacrifice is now etched in history. And for every girl watching, proof that no dream is too heavy to carry.
