Israeli Psychological Toll Surges Amid Iran's Retaliatory Strikes
Maariv, an Israeli newspaper, reported a 350 percent surge in individuals seeking assistance at specialized health centers for psychological issues since the onset of Iran's retaliatory missile attacks on Israel.
The newspaper highlighted a substantial rise in the volume of Israelis reaching out to the center's helpline in recent days.
Quoting Everett Shewert, the general director of the Natal Society, the newspaper conveyed, "We have received calls from citizens across the nation grappling with mental strain, anxiety, tremors, tears, and rapid heart rates due to the ongoing conflict."
Shewert further elaborated, stating that "Israelis have expressed their fears of losing control over their lives, leaving their shelters, and have requested guidance on calming their children. They have also mentioned their inability to cease monitoring the news."
This development unfolded as Israel unexpectedly targeted numerous sites within Iranian territory on Friday morning. Preceding Iran's retaliatory actions, the Israeli government instructed its citizens to seek refuge in shelters.
Additionally, the US ambassador to Israel disclosed to the media yesterday that he sought shelter five times, deeming it the most distressing day of his life.
