Repentance is an important foundation for a solid discipleship life. We classify sin All sins carry death.  Forgiveness is needed by believers. Regeneration changes an unbeliever. You won't go back to your sin if you are truly repented. Repentance is a CHANGE OF HEART and MIND that leads to CHANGE OF BEHAVIOUR. Examples of godly sorrow : David (2nd Sam 12:1-13, 14-22/ Psalm 51) Peter( Luke 22:59-end )  Examples of Worldly sorrow : Judas( Matthew 27:3-5) Esau ( Hebrews 12:16-17) Worldly sorrow (remorse) produce death and destruction. It is sorrow for being caught , not for the sins committed. 5 STAGES OF REPENTANCE  1. Conviction is realising that you have sinned. 2. Contrition is feeling sorry for the sins you have committed . Psalm34:18, Psalm 51:17 3. Confession of sin is done unto God.  - Luke 15:21 - "Father , I have sinned" - 1st John 1:9 - "if we confess our sins" - Psalm 32:5 .  - Open up to someone if the sin has become habitual (James 5:16) 4. Conversion is acting in line with the change you have decided to affect . 5.
