The Malawi Electoral Commission, "the Commission", is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.
In accordance with Section 13 on the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitability qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following position within its secretariat.
Job Tittle: Temporary Presiding Officer

Responsible to: Director of Electoral Services
Location: All Councils
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Checking the polling station, polling materials and security availability before election day and making all necessary arrangements ahead of polling.
Ensuring availability of security at all fimes at the polling station.
Training of other poling station officers
Liaising with political party/independent representatives and observers on the polling procedures.
Ensuring that political party/independent candidate representatives and Observers are properly accredited before issuing identity cards or allowing them into the polling station.
Cross-checking that all Political Party/ Independent candidate representatives have indicated their names and signatures in the Record of Polling process at the beginning of polling.
Cross-checking that polling materials are packaged according to laid down procedures
Completing the Record of Polling Process and all other forms properly.
Opening and closing the polling station at the designated times.
Recording all complaints, actions or decisions taken (if any) and appeals in the Complaints and Incidents Logbook.
Attending to enquiries from the media and observers on the operation of the polling station.
Assisting voters requiring assistance during voting, including people with disabilities and the elderly.
Reporting all matters related to the operations of the polling stations to the relevant officers of the Commission.
Taking charge of the vote-counting process.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a diploma and should be a serving Public Servant
Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules
Ability to produce reports.
