#update 402 teachers with experience ranging from 4 to 9 years in Thyolo District are expected to be promoted from Grade L to Grade K before the end of June. This is according to an internal communication from the District Commissioner for Thyolo, Hudson Kuphanga, addressed to the District Director of Education, Youth and Sports, instructing him to prepare all eligible candidates who have served for more than four years for interviews. The communication further states that qualified teachers are not required to submit applications. Principal Human Resource Management Officer for the district, McSowan Mkulama Kathewera, said over 1,800 teachers with more than 10 years of service were already promoted and the current 402 are an additional group, which will also create room for more promotions. Kathewera also disclosed that besides the 402 Grade K promotions, 39 teachers will be promoted to Grade J and 27 others to Grade I. Speaking to MBC, Director of Education, Youth and Sports, Rabson Kawalala, welcomed the development, saying it will motivate teachers in the district and boost efforts to improve education standards.
