Flash Flood Risk Alert
As the rainy season intensifies, flash flooding remains a growing concern across Nigeria. Several states are already showing signs of significant rainfall accumulation, leading to a higher risk of flash floods.
🔴 High Risk Area:
Akwa Ibom State – Currently faces a high likelihood of flash flooding, especially in urban and low-lying communities.
🟠 States with Notable Risk of Flash Flooding:
Sokoto, Zamfara, Plateau, Yobe, Bauchi,Bayelsa
Abia, Nasarawa, Benue, Ogun, Ekiti, Delta, Rivers
📌 CURRENT REALITY – JUNE 2025:
Several communities across Nigeria have already reported localized flooding due to intense rainfalls, poor drainage systems, and blocked water channels. Urban centers and riverine communities are especially at risk this season.

🧹 Clear Drainage Systems�Keep gutters, storm drains, and canals free from debris to prevent blockages and local flooding.
🌊 Avoid Floodwaters�Walking or driving through floodwaters is extremely dangerous. Just 6 inches can sweep you off your feet.
🏠 Relocate if Necessary�Residents in high-risk zones should plan ahead and move to higher ground during heavy rainfall.
