Stock Theft Suspect Dies by Alleged Suicide While in Police Custody in Kisumu
A man arrested for suspected stock theft has died while in custody at the Katito Police Station in Kisumu County.
According to police reports, the suspect allegedly took his own life using his vest to hang himself from the cell door. He was being held in solitary confinement at the time.
Officers at the station said they heard a commotion from the cell at around 10:00 am on June 13. When they went to investigate, they found the suspect had allegedly hanged himself. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
