Kaduna to Ibadan drivers nearly gave me hypertension, but in the end, nothing spoil. I went to deliver goods from Kaduna to Ibadan on Tuesday, just as I always do. We discussed, agreed on a fair price, and they gave me a number they said belonged to the driver. I didn’t doubt them. Why should I? Usually, if the goods don’t move on Tuesday, they’re out by Wednesday, and my client gets her package by Thursday at the latest. But this time, Thursday came and went with no call and no delivery. I was confused. My client stayed calm, but I couldn’t. I went back to the park yesterday to find out what happened. They apologized with confidence and handed me one very well-packaged lie. They promised the package would be delivered latest by 4pm. This morning, still no word. At that point, anger was dancing in my chest. I returned to the park again, no smiles this time. And guess what I discovered? They never sent the package on Tuesday. It was only after my first complaint that they sent it yesterday. This is the part of business people don’t often see. The stress. The back and forth. The unnecessary lies. Sometimes, it’s not the market that is hard. It’s the middlemen that try to frustrate your destiny. Some waybill drivers have become the weapon fashioned against small business owners. But thank God. My client finally received her package today. All is well. The moral of the story? We deliver. We don’t scam. We don’t do payment on delivery. You pay, and you get your goods with plenty peace of mind.
