*Prebiotic* is a compound, typically a type of fiber, that acts as nourishment for beneficial gut bacteria. Unlike probiotics, which are live microorganisms, prebiotics support the growth and activity of the good bacteria already present in your digestive system.
*Synbiotics* are food components or dietary supplements that combine both probiotics and prebiotics to work together in promoting gut health.
But if you can have Probiotics (e.g., Yogurt) & Prebiotics (e.g., Gum Acacia) from the food itself, there is no need to take dietary supplements.
We combined home-made Yogurt with Gum Acacia to obtain a Synbiotic drink, & this Lassi was made better by adding more fibers like Malanga, Chia seeds, Ispaghol seeds & the beautiful *Tragacanth* *Gum* .
Because these fibers will thicken your drink, plenty of water is needed. For 500 ml yogurt, I added 700 ml water.
As the West says, benefits of combining Probiotics and Prebiotics (Synbiotics) are:
• Improved probiotic effectiveness: Prebiotics support the survival of probiotics through the digestive tract and enhance their ability to colonize the gut.
• Enhanced digestive health: Can help alleviate symptoms like bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
• Boosted immune function: A well-balanced gut microbiome strengthens the body’s immune defenses.
• Increased nutrient absorption: Beneficial bacteria assist in the absorption of essential vitamins and minerals.
