At the 11th hour a full demolition plan was scaled back - with the city council now set to demolish part of the former pub which is closest to the new Youth Zone. Councillors say they want to try and retain the frontage of the pub and work to bring it back into use. Heritage campaigners were praised during the cabinet meeting for their alternative plans and focus on the building.
