Today, the Director of the Kenya Meteorological Department, Dr. David Gikungu, joined key leaders including the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, Principal Secretaries, Ambassadors, and development partners at the official launch of the #earlywarningsforall initiative in Nairobi.
🌧️ Kenya Meteorological Department will lead Pillar 2: Watch and Predict, under the guidance of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) — focusing on hazard monitoring, forecasting & timely alerts.
🎙️ Dr. Gikungu emphasized the critical role of early warnings in saving lives and protecting livelihoods, especially with increasing climate risks.
🇰🇪 Kenya joins 19 other countries globally in committing to universal early warning coverage by 2027.
