Reports say former Foreign Affairs Minister Walter Mzembi will spend the weekend in custody after Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei postponed to Monday a hearing into his bid to cancel three outstanding arrest warrants. Mzembi was reportedly arrested on Friday, just two days after allegedly meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The arrest warrants stem from his failure to attend trial in 2018 on corruption-related charges. Mzembi has been living in exile in South Africa since 2018, claiming he fled to avoid political persecution.
