According to a source within Parliament who spoke on condition of anonymity, the distribution of the vehicles was communicated on Tuesday directly from the Office of the President. The source claimed, “Mnangagwa wants to silence Parliamentarians who lead key Portfolio Committees. Remember there is 2030,” referencing the President’s Vision 2030 agenda. “Also, Mnangagwa fraudulently endorsed the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals refurbishment tender. Therefore, he has strategically thrown the dice to silence Parliamentarians thought to be influential in making noise.” The legislators reportedly receiving vehicles: *National Assembly Panel* i. Critics argue that the timing and secrecy of the distribution raise serious ethical concerns. Civil society watchdogs have called for transparency and accountability, warning that such covert incentives erode the independence of Parliament. “If legislators are being rewarded in the dark, how can they be expected to hold the executive to account?” asked one political analyst. As of now, neither the President’s Office nor Parliament has issued a formal statement in response to the leaked list. The said Parliamentarians are yet to respond to the their involvement in the said ploy. *_-ZimEye_* 2. *MZEMBI REMANDED IN CUSTODY TO JULY 1... MAGISTRATE SAYS FORMER MINISTER WAS NO NOT AS SICK AS HE WANTS COURT TO BELIEVE* Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Walter Mzembi, will languish in jail after Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei revoked his bail on the grounds that he willfully skipped court for the past seven years. The magistrate dismissed his application seeking cancellation of his three arrest warrants and remanded him in custody until July 1. Ndirowei, in his ruling, said Mzembi failed to give a convincing explanation why he defaulted court. "There is a gap as to what transpired in his medical report since the attached medical reports should have worked if he availed himself in 2019, not 2025," the magistrate noted. Ndirowei noted that after his discharge in 2024 in Zambia, Mzembi never made an effort to come and cancel his warrants. "He was not sick to the extent that he wants the court to believe; however, he was Saviour Kasukuwere's campaigner for the 2023 elections, and he was active on his social media." "The accused's submissions fall far short and the warrants of arrests are hereby confirmed, bail revoked, he is hereby committed to prison pending trial," he ruled. Mzembi had said he was not in wilful default. He told the court that he had been in and out of the hospital over the years, and he was out of the country, adding that he had undergone many operations to correct his ailment. *_-NewZimbabwe_* 3. *OPPOSITION POLITICIANS PLAN TO MEET CHAMISA… MULLS AD HOC TEAM TO ENGAGE EX-CCC FOUNDER* A group of political activists claiming allegiance to ex-Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, intends to reach out to the charismatic politician with concerns about the challenges afflicting opposition politics in Zimbabwe. Chamisa, founded the CCC and ditched the party after it had been hijacked by Sengezo Tshabangu, leaving his rivals and supporters guessing about his next move. Amid speculation over the politician's preparations for a political comeback, opposition political activists want to make him aware of their on their grievances, which they claim need attention before the launch of the new political outfit. The political activists, who came together on social media platforms expressing disgruntlement over the state of opposition politics, came up with a document they plan to deliver to Chamisa. In the leaked document, titled Re-energising the Base in Preparation for the New, seen by NewsDay, the activists raised concern about “secretive meetings” being held in preparation for the new political outfit to challenge Zanu PF’s 45-year rule. The alleged secretive meetings, the activists claim, sideline other members, sparking fears of escalating infighting within the opposition. The activists allege that there has been imposition of citizen representatives in the form of cluster leaders and co-ordinators, at all levels from ward up to national, without consultation and input of grassroots citizens by a “dangerous cabal”. “We hereby identify some of the major problems which were evident leading to the resignation of our leader, some of which have persisted to date with devastating consequences,” part of the document read. “As part of the ongoing SWOT analysis, these challenges come in the form of weaknesses (internal) and threats (external) to which mitigatory measures may be developed to create a formidable force that can oppose the regime effectively. “Imposition of citizens’ representatives in the form of cluster leaders, constituency co-ordinators, youth co-ordinators, women co-ordinators at all levels from ward through to national, without consultation and input of the grassroots citizens. “Divisive and toxic politics which has created more hatred among cadres and party deployees more than the real elephant in the room, Zanu PF, perpetrated by a dangerous cabal which arrogated itself powers even to impose representatives loyal to its selfish and personal agenda.” The opposition is currently fractured, with members fighting for inclusion in the new set-up amid accusations and labelling. Some members are accused of being sell-outs, suspected to be dining with Tshabangu, which has led to mistrust and divisions within the party. The activists called on Chamisa to come up with a constitution before launching the new political outfit. “Having identified the challenges that are likely to contaminate the new (formation), we propose the following solutions, among others,” part of the document read. “A people-driven constitution with a shared set of values upon which all are bound and servant to, one that can be used as a point of reference guiding the operations of the citizens’ movement. “This will give birth to a well-structured and strong institution. Leadership must come from the grassroots. No one has the mandate to lead without the people's consent. This will likely boost electoral results as it will address voter apathy.” The activists have reportedly not yet agreed on who will deliver the document to Chamisa, but senior opposition figures such as Vongai Tome, Lynette Mazingaidzo and Takavafira Zhou, among others have been proposed for the task. The individuals are reportedly seen as enjoying Chamisa’s trust and able to effectively convey the activists’ concerns. Tome, who is touted to be the team leader, could not comment on the matter when approached by NewsDay yesterday. Leader of the CCC faction aligned to Chamisa, Jameson Timba, yesterday said he was not aware of the document and the plan to approach Chamisa. “Firstly, I have not seen the said paper and whether it is an academic position or someone sharing their thoughts, which they are entitled to. “Secondly, the most topical issue in Zimbabwe is Zanu PF’s 2030 agenda that we are opposing. The rest of the issues include failure by the current government to provide for the people. “The other important issue we are seized with is that we now have a progressive caucus in Parliament and we have distinctively separated ourselves from the Tshabangu faction to challenge Zanu PF in its plans.” *_-Newsday_* 4. *SANYATWE ENDORSEMENT FUELS TAGWIREI SPECULATION IN ZANU PF SUCCESSION BATTLE* Speculation over the Zanu PF succession race has intensified following remarks by Retired Army General and current Sports Minister Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, who publicly praised controversial businessman Kuda Tagwirei for his loyalty to the military establishment. Addressing party supporters in Nyanga over the weekend, Sanyatwe — renowned for his influence within Zimbabwe’s security sector — pointedly underscored Tagwirei’s perceived allegiance, declaring: “I pointed at him (Tagwirei) using my finger which was shot during the liberation struggle because it holds meaning.” He added that Tagwirei “respects the military” — a statement interpreted by many as an endorsement of Tagwirei’s growing political stature within ruling party circles. Tagwirei, a wealthy tycoon long associated with lucrative government contracts and fuel deals, has emerged as one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s closest confidants. His visible involvement in state affairs has drawn both domestic and international scrutiny, with critics alleging that he has wielded undue influence behind the scenes. In recent months, insiders say Tagwirei has been increasingly positioned in roles typically reserved for senior government officials, often speaking or acting in ways that suggest he is Mnangagwa’s de facto emissary. This has fuelled widespread talk that he may be groomed as a possible successor when Mnangagwa’s second and final term comes to an end — a prospect that has divided opinion within Zanu PF and the broader security establishment. While the ruling party has so far avoided publicly discussing a clear succession plan, Sanyatwe’s remarks have laid bare the simmering tensions over who should take over from Mnangagwa, who came to power via a military-assisted transition in 2017. Sources within the party suggest that while some senior officials back a civilian technocrat like Tagwirei to secure economic stability and protect vested interests, others remain adamant that only a candidate with liberation credentials or a strong military pedigree should lead Zanu PF post-Mnangagwa. Political analysts say Sanyatwe’s carefully worded tribute signals an attempt by the military old guard to reassure its rank and file that any civilian successor — including Tagwirei — would safeguard their legacy and privileges accrued since independence. The development comes as factional manoeuvring intensifies ahead of Zanu PF’s next elective congress, with rival camps quietly rallying behind potential candidates in anticipation of Mnangagwa’s eventual exit. Whether Tagwirei’s rise will unify or further fracture Zimbabwe’s ruling elite remains to be seen. *_-Zimbabwe Mail_* 5. *HARARE COUNCILLORS DIVIDED OVER RETIREMENT AGE* Harare City Council (HCC) is divided over a government directive to extend the retirement age for workers to 70, with some councillors saying old people are being abused and should retire to enjoy their pension. The issue was debated in a full council meeting recently, where it was revealed that the human resources report adopted the government directive. President Emmerson Mnangagwa extended the retirement age for civil servants and members of the uniformed forces to 70 through Statutory Instrument 197 of 2024. The directive was extended to councils. In an interview with NewsDay, ward 16 councillor Denford Ngadziore said councils were not bound to agree to all directives. He said the directive was anti-youth, noting that some graduates have been without jobs for several years. “Our human resources report adopted a government directive to increase retirement age to 70, previously retirement age at the council was 55, then 60, 65 and now 70. “When these people reach 70, they will extend the retirement age to 75 and possibly to 80. This resolution is anti-youth, we have youths who are coming from universities and some have no jobs after graduating 20 years ago and we keep on extending contracts. “It is not every directive we are supposed to agree to. What l am seeing at Harare City Council is shocking. Sometimes you can see an old man jumping onto a tipper truck.” He said council was violating old people’s rights. “It is the same as violating children's rights because you can't employ a child. We need to respect the old people so that they retire on time and go and enjoy their pension,” Ngadziore said. Council human resources committee chairperson George Mujajati confirmed that the local authority had adopted the government directive. “We have since adopted the government directive and we are in the process of implementing it,” he said. *_-Newsday_* 6. *MNANGAGWA WIFE'S UK TRIP FLOPS* Organisers of the First Ladies African Impact & Resilience (Flair) Summit scheduled for London next week have reportedly withdrawn the invitation extended to Zimbabwe's First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, following pressure from Zimbabweans living in the United Kingdom. The summit, set to take place from June 16 to 18, was to gather first ladies from across Africa to discuss issues of women's leadership, compassion, and societal well-being. However, Zimbabweans in the UK, many of whom say they fled Zimbabwe due to Zanu PF's governance and political repression, petitioned the event organisers to rescind Auxillia's invite. They warned that they would disrupt the proceedings should she be allowed to attend. A key turning point came when Dawn Butler, a prominent British parliamentarian representing Brent East, withdrew from the summit after constituents raised objections about the First Lady's planned participation. This development reportedly triggered an emergency meeting among the organisers, resulting in the decision to cancel Auxillia Mnangagwa's attendance, according to insider sources. Responding to the allegations, Zimbabwe's presidential spokesperson George Charamba dismissed claims of a withdrawn invitation as false. Charamba stated that Auxillia simply declined the invite due to a busy schedule filled with local commitments. "You can be invited, but you can also turn down an invite," Charamba said. "Her plate is full; there are lots of programmes here. She will be with communities in Zimbabwe." However, sources close to the presidency indicated that officials were informed last week about the cancellation, attributing it to fears that angry Zimbabwean diaspora groups would disrupt the event. Further reports suggest that the First Lady may now be planning to travel to Australia for another engagement during the same period as the Flair Summit. While she has already secured a visa for Australia, the trip faces complications as some members of her original travel party were dismissed and attempts to secure new visas for replacements have reportedly been difficult. The Zimbabwean diaspora's opposition to Auxillia's participation stems from concerns over the government's record on human rights abuses, political repression, corruption, and mis-governance. Critics argue that her association with President Emmerson Mnangagwa's administration contradicts the summit's core values of integrity, compassion, and courageous leadership. The Flair Summit was established by diaspora women leaders to foster collaboration with women in Africa to promote societal well-being. The exclusion of Zimbabwe's First Lady highlights the tensions between the diaspora community's activism and the Zimbabwean government's international image. As the Flair Summit approaches, the controversy underscores the continuing challenges Zimbabwe faces regarding its governance and relations with its overseas communities. *_-Bulawayo24_* 7. *TRUMP ADDS ZIMBABWE TO LIST OF COUNTRIES FACING US TRAVEL BAN* Zimbabwe is one of 36 countries whose citizens could be banned from travelling to the United States over alleged identity documentation fraud and visa violations, the Washington Post reported on Sunday. A memo was signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and sent to United States diplomats on Saturday. It says the listed countries have 60 days to follow new rules set by the State Department. The State Department said some of the countries have failed to meet certain standards, some had “no competent or cooperative central government authority” to give out trusted identity documents. Others have “a large number of citizens who have violated the terms of their visas.” The memo adds that if a country agrees to take back third-country nationals being deported from the US, it may help ease other concerns. The countries facing possible visa limits, travel bans, or other steps include 25 in Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Caribbean countries on the list are: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Lucia. The memo also names four countries in Asia: Bhutan, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, and Syria. And three in Oceania: Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. These countries have until 8AM on Wednesday to send the State Department a first plan on how they will meet the new rules. A State Department spokesperson would not talk about the memo but said the department is always “reevaluating policies to ensure Americans are safe and foreign nationals abide by the law.” It is still not clear if the new travel limits will begin after the deadline. The memo comes one week after Trump brought back his first-term travel ban. That order blocks entry from 12 countries and limits travel from 7 others. In January, Trump signed another order asking the State Department to list countries “for which vetting and screening information is so deficient as to warrant a partial or full suspension” on their citizens. These moves are part of Trump’s larger immigration plan, including what he called the “largest mass deportation operation” in US history. His plan also includes canceling visas and ending protections for tens of thousands of immigrants. *_-ZimLive_* 8. *“I DEMANDED THAT HE USE CONDOMS” – MAI JEREMAYA TESTIFIES IN RAPE CASE* Social media personality Ashley Masendeke, popularly known as Mai Jeremaya, gave a harrowing account of her alleged sexual assault at the hands of two men, stating that she pleaded for them to use protection before they forced themselves on her. Testifying before the Harare Magistrates’ Court, Masendeke recounted the events of the night she says changed her life forever. The accused, Thabo Blessing Dube (27) and Martin Charlie (25), are facing rape charges stemming from an incident in May. Both men have denied the allegations. Masendeke told the court that she had been lured to a lodge in Harare under the pretense of shooting an advert for a local driving school. “On April 9, I received a call from Dube, who claimed to be from Elite Driving School,” she said. “He wanted me to shoot an advert, but never showed up for our initial meeting as I was with my husband.” Weeks later, on April 30, Masendeke followed up on the arrangement. “When I got into town, I contacted Sam [a supposed associate of Dube] for directions, stressing that I didn’t have money to get back home,” she explained. “He gave me another number to call, saying his driver would pick me up. Eventually, Charlie arrived.” To her shock, instead of being taken to a studio or office, she was driven to a lodge. “I was surprised to see a bed in the so-called ‘office’. That’s when they locked the door. When I started crying, Dube warned me that it would anger Charlie,” she testified. She told the court that in a moment of fear and confusion, she pleaded for protection. “I demanded that he use condoms. I was scared. When Charlie started undressing, I took off my dress but kept my bra and socks on. He fondled me, and eventually I removed the rest of my clothes. He raped me before Dube came in and joined,” she said. Masendeke, a mother of three, said the incident has left her deeply traumatised and shaken her marriage. “I don’t believe I consented. I acted out of fear and coercion. If I had wanted to engage in sexual activity, it would have been with Sam, not these boys. I didn’t want to be embarrassed. I have a public profile, and I was scared. “He told me he had access to classified information, that he could find me anywhere. He shared chilling stories.” She added: “The aftermath was unbearable. I had to take medication that made me ill, I developed anxiety, and I can’t sleep. My marriage was already rocky, and this incident destroyed it completely. I’ve been humiliated.” The matter continues before the courts. *_-Nehanda Radio_* 9. *FAKE ‘SON’ FLEECES MISS RURAL ZIMBABWE PAGEANT FOUNDER MAZIBUKO OF US$5,600* Sipho Mazibuko, the founder of the Miss Rural Zimbabwe pageant, claims she was swindled out of US$5,600 by a young man she had taken in and treated like a son. The accused, 25-year-old Courage Ngwenya, is alleged to have stolen the money from Mazibuko’s safe before vanishing. He now faces two charges under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23] — theft and fraudulent conversion of trust property. In a now-viral Facebook post, Mazibuko detailed how she had grown close to Ngwenya over the past two years. “I met him around two years ago when he approached me as a youth farmer and aspiring entrepreneur. “He said he needed mentorship and shared a heart-breaking story about how his mother had disappeared because of an abusive, alcoholic father,” she wrote. “I believed him. I treated him like a son.” Mazibuko said she was drawn to Ngwenya’s apparent intelligence and ambition. “I didn’t verify his qualifications. He claimed he had a degree in accounting from Lupane State University. I trusted him. I even made him a model for my Miss Rural Zimbabwe magazine.” The betrayal came to light when she discovered her safe had been emptied one weekend. The shock caused a spike in her blood pressure, leading to her being rushed to Mater Dei Hospital. After recovering, she took it upon herself to aid in Ngwenya’s capture. “I lured him into the safe room, locked it from the outside and called the police. He was arrested while pacing like a trapped mouse.” Mazibuko said Ngwenya, who is now out on bail, had manipulated her kind nature. “He even introduced me to his long-lost parents after claiming they had died years ago. That’s when I realised I was dealing with a professional con artist.” She has since issued a warning to others not to let their generosity blind them. “My daughter once told me, ‘Your heart is a refugee camp.’ She was right. Courage lived in that camp, plotted his heist, and then struck.” *_-Nehanda Radio_* 10. *POOL FEVER GRIPS ZIMBABWE – US$2,500 AND A PRO TABLE UP FOR GRABS IN CARLING SHOWDOWN* It’s game on as cue masters across Zimbabwe get ready to battle for bragging rights and big bucks in this year’s Carling Black Label National Pool Tournament. Now over a decade old, the country’s biggest pool showdown is back with more firepower, more towns and more money. Organised in partnership with the Zimbabwe Pool Association (Zipa), the 2025 edition promises to be the most explosive yet. This year’s contest has spread its wings to five new hotspots — Plumtree, Nyanga, Chegutu, Chirundu and Kariba — bringing fresh talent and fierce competition to the table. “The first prize will be US$2 500 and a professional pool table. Second prize is US$1 500, third gets US$1 000, and fourth prize is US$500,” said the tournament organisers in a statement. Players had to register via WhatsApp ahead of the regional qualifiers which began on May 31, a move meant to streamline operations and improve accessibility across all provinces. The tournament isn’t just about potting balls, it’s about honour, pride and representing your town. Both male and female cue kings and queens are gunning for glory. To ensure nothing but top-tier competition, Carling Black Label and Zipa have trained over 60 referees to maintain professionalism and fairness throughout the tournament. The national final is set for August 9, with organisers saying the venue will be announced as the action heats up. From smoky taverns to glittering halls, Zimbabwe’s pool tables are about to witness epic cue duels. Let the best potter win. *_-H-Metro_* 11. *TOYOTA FORTUNERS VANISH IN GUNPOINT TERROR – ROBBERS POUNCE ON ELDERLY WOMAN AND YOUNG COUPLE IN BULAWAYO* Two Toyota Fortuners were stolen in violent back-to-back incidents in Bulawayo. In a statement Bulawayo pllice spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele warned: “Police in Bulawayo have since witnessed an emerging trend of robbery of motor vehicles.” In the first terrifying incident, a 64-year-old woman from Malindela was ambushed on June 11 in Pumula South as she returned to her parked silver Toyota Fortuner (AGH 2067) after checking on renovations. “As she was trying to unlock the vehicle, she was approached by an unknown accused person who pointed a black pistol at her, demanding the car keys and threatening to shoot her if she did not comply,” reads the statement. The woman, fearing for her life, surrendered her car keys and handbag. The robbers made off with the Fortuner, US$43, a pack of pain tablets worth US$50, and a bucket of paint valued at US$138. The total loss is valued at US$55,000. Nothing has been recovered. Just days later, on June 16 around 8:45PM, a 37-year-old man and his wife from Parklands had their night shattered near Kingsdale shops. They had pulled over in a dark area for a short break when terror struck. “Five unknown accused persons emerged from behind the vehicle armed with a pistol and okapi knife,” the police said. The thugs swiftly took control of the silver Toyota Fortuner (AFK 3226), forcing both the man and his wife out after grabbing groceries and two iPhone 13 Pro Max phones worth US$1 400. The total value of the loot was pegged at US$46 450. Again, nothing was recovered. Insp Msebele urged drivers to be alert: “We urge all motorists to make sure that their vehicles have tracking devices and they should be vigilant when driving. If you suspect that you are being followed, drive straight to the nearest police station.” She further advised: “When recessing, one should make sure that they do it in a well-lit area near buildings and shops.” Police are now appealing for any information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers. If you know something, say something! *_-H-Metro_* 12. *COURT NULLIFIES COLLEGE DEREGISTRATION AFTER TEACHER IS CAUGHT WRITING EXAMS FOR 2 STUDENTS* The High Court has nullified the deregistration of Sakubva Commercial College in Mutare. This follows a cheating scandal after one of the teachers wrote a maths examination for two pupils. Apparently, examination candidates found guilty of malpractices, such as cheating, face up to five years’ imprisonment, while any institution convicted of widespread irregularities will be compelled to bear the cost of providing alternative centres in addition to its deregistration. Institutions where half the candidates are in breach of operating standard procedures governing examinations will be suspended and bear the cost of providing candidates with alternative centres. These new regulations are contained in the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council Amendment Bill that was gazetted by Parliament recently. The Bill now awaits to be tabled before the National Assembly. While the Bill has several clauses aimed at reforming the board and improving operational efficiency, it is a clause that seeks to punish cheats that will draw the attention of many stakeholders. “Any person who forges, alters, offers, utters or disposes of any document, purporting to show that a person has obtained a result in an examination held by the Council, knowing the same to be forged or altered shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding Level 14 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years or to both such fine and such imprisonment,” reads Clause Eight of the Bill. ZIMSEC defines examination malpractice as follows: “Any conduct committed by an examination candidate either intentionally or realising that there is a real possibility that such conduct may desecrate or undermine the integrity of an examination and which conduct will afford the concerned examination candidate an unwarranted advantage over other examination candidates.” Over the past years, ZIMSEC has been grappling with examination malpractices, which include cheating, leakage of examination papers and impersonation of candidates among others. *_-ZwNews_* 13. *ROAD ANGELS DIRECTOR LOSES US$13,000 IN ARMED ROBBERY* The director of a well-known vehicle roadside assistance company, Road Angels, became the latest target in a string of violent robberies after armed intruders stormed his Mt Pleasant home and made off with US$13,000. According to Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the brazen robbery happened when three masked men broke into the businessman’s home, held his family hostage, and demanded car keys and cash. Chakanza said the robbers were armed with a black pistol, a knobkerrie, and an L-shaped wheel spanner. They wasted no time — ordering the complainant to lie on the ground at gunpoint, tying his hands behind his back with a shoelace, and then ransacking the house. Fearing for his life, the man told the robbers to check the wardrobe, where they found R2,000. But that wasn’t enough. The gang pressed for more, eventually getting away with US$13,000 in total. “Police are investigating an armed robbery in Mt Pleasant. They approached the complainant, covering their faces with face masks, armed with an unidentified black pistol, a knobkerrie, an L-shaped wheel spanner and ordered the complainant to lie down whilst pointing the pistol at him, and he complied. They then tied his hands behind his back with a black shoe lace and demanded money. The complainant told them to check in the wardrobe, and they took 2000 South African Rands and went on to demand more money,” said Insp Chakanza. Police are now investigating the robbery, which has left the Mt Pleasant community shaken. *_-iHarare_* 14. *MASVINGO MAN STABS VILLAGER OVER STOLEN JACKET* A Masvingo man who stabbed a fellow villager on the forehead over a stolen jacket has been sentenced to an effective four year jail term by Regional Magistrate Innocent Bepura. Ephraim Maera (27) of Village 27, Manyame stabbed Kudzanai Tarirai Mlambo (41) once on the forehead, once on the occiput, hit him on the mouth with a brick and punched him twice. The incident happened on May 21, 2025, around 6am at Manyama Business Centre. Magistrate Bepura said that the Maera’s actions are not consistent with self-defense and it is clear that he intended to harm Mlambo as he used a dangerous weapon. “You deserve a custodial sentence so that a clear message is send to the community that the court does not tolerate such acts,” said Magistrate Bepura. Circumstances are that Maera Mlambo was headed to the local business centre to purchase groceries when he met Maera. Maera accused Mlambo of stealing his jacket the previous night and went on to slap him before he could reply. Mlambo ran away and only returned to the business centre around 11am. The accused again confronted Mlambo and punched him on the face. Mlambo tried to run away and Maera pursued and caught him. Maera stabbed Mlambo with a knife once on the forehead and the occiput and hit him with a brick on the mouth. Innocent Mudzingwa prosecuted. *_-Masvingo Mirror_*
