*Exodus 16:15 (KJV):* And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.
*UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU ‘EAT’*
The Israelite journey from bondage through the wilderness to the promised land was also a journey of progress from a place of ignorance to knowledge. When He began to feed them with manna in the wilderness, it was divine provision, yet it came with mystery. They called it “manna,” which literally means “What is it?”—because they did not know what they were eating.
They were eating something from heaven, but they lacked the revelation of what it truly was. And for many believers today, the same pattern repeats: we receive spiritual input—sermons, teachings, prophecies, songs, messages—but we do not always discern what we are actually feeding on.
It is dangerous to eat without knowing what you are eating. Spiritually, it can lead to confusion, deception, or even spiritual malnourishment.
In the New Testament, Jesus reveals the mystery: He is the true manna (John 6:48-50). What was once unknown— “What is it?”—is now clearly revealed in Christ. In Him, we no longer eat without understanding. He is the Word made flesh. He is the food that nourishes eternal life, the substance that sustains our souls.
God wants His people to be spiritually discerning—to test the spirits, to rightly divide the Word, to crave pure spiritual milk and grow into maturity (1 Peter 2:2). The mature believer does not eat everything offered at every table. You must ask: Is this word from Christ? Does it reveal the nature of Jesus? Does it nourish truth, or is it laced with error? We are not just to be fed—we are to discern what we are being fed.

*GOLDEN NUGGET:* In the New Testament, Jesus reveals the mystery: He is the true manna (John 6:48-50). What was once unknown— “What is it?”—is now clearly revealed in Christ. In Him, we no longer eat without understanding. He is the Word made flesh. He is the food that nourishes eternal life, the substance that sustains our souls.
*PRAYER:* Father, I thank You for this word. I received the true bread from heaven—Your Son, Jesus Christ. By the Spirit of Christ, I discern what I receive as spiritual food. I know what nourishes my soul and fortifies my spirit. My hunger will always be for what is eternal, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
