"When your village people will openly wish you bad" Yinka Elizabeth Mulero might be smiling now, but when she finished competing in the women's 800m final, she was inconsolable and in tears. Although she is an indigene of Ogun state, she opted to represent Oyo state (where she resides) at the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta. When some people in Ogun state realized that she wasn't representing them, they swore that she wasn't going to win the GOLD medal in the race. It was something that played on her mind, because she desperately wanted to win it and put them to shame. Yinka poured everything into the race: she put her body and soul, but just fell short of winning the GOLD medal by less than six-tenths of a second. She might not have won, but she got a Silver medal running a Lifetime's Best of 2:04.64 - the fastest time she has ever run in the 800m. In fact it's the fastest she has run since 2018, when she ran 2:08.84, and now goes into the top 20 fastest Nigerian women in the 800m. She cried
