India wins presidency of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) for the term 2025–2028, defeating Austria in the final round.
🔹 2. First-Ever Ballot-Based Election in 100 Years
This is the first time in IIAS history (est. 1930) that the President was elected through a ballot process.
🔹 3. Big Win – India vs Austria
In the final vote, India secured 87 out of 141 votes (61.7%), while Austria got 54 votes (38.3%).

India’s nominee was Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG). His nomination was approved by PM Narendra Modi.

Initially, three candidates: India, Austria, and South Africa. But South Africa withdrew in May 2025 to support India.
