This comes after Mnangagwa announced via X (formerly Twitter) that his recent hospital tours were meant to assess the state of public health services in Zimbabwe. Mawarire dismissed the explanation, claiming the hospital visits were nothing more than a smokescreen to justify a pre-arranged contract. He alleged that the US$437,282,400.00 deal was signed between the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) and a South African company, TTM Global Medical Exports (PTY) Limited โ€” a firm allegedly linked to controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo. Wrote Mawarire: โ€œWe know you have already, through your office, signed a $439m dollar contract with a South African company, TTM Global Medical Exports without going to tender.โ€ He further accused Mnangagwaโ€™s administration of misusing the newly introduced sugar tax to fund corrupt deals, describing the contract as a โ€œscam.โ€ Mawarire said Chivayo, whom he labelled Mnangagwaโ€™s โ€œobese proxy,โ€ was the originator of what he called a โ€œsilly โ€˜presidential scheme for the provision of cancer treatment equipmentโ€™ proposalโ€ that was later approved by the OPC. He criticised the timing of Mnangagwaโ€™s hospital tour โ€” which came two months after the alleged deal was signed โ€” calling it a โ€œpoor retrospective gimmick meant to sanitise the more than $400m heist that Rushwaya & ED pulled with the TTM Global scandal.โ€ Mawarire also took aim at Martin Rushwaya, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, who accompanied Mnangagwa on the tour, labelling him โ€œthe most scandalous & corrupt govt official that Zimbabwe has ever had since 1980.โ€ โ€“ Pindula News
