You are no longer common 1 Samuel 21:4 NLT — “We don’t have any regular bread,” the priest replied. “But there is the holy bread, which you can have if your young men have not slept with any women recently.” Thank you Jesus for the gift of life. We pray to you Lord, for total peace in our lives. Lord we are imperfect. It is only your blood, shed on the Cross, that can cleanse us. This is the reason why we can't afford to live far from you. Speak to us Holy Spirit. In Jesus's name I pray, amen. When David was fleeing from Saul, he stopped by the temple. This was his first place to stop and sought help. Listen church, David could have escaped and run back to Bethlehem to his father Jesse's home. But instead, he went to the Temple first. This is teaching us that, when life is at its lowest point, know where to seek help first. I am alive to the fact that not every temple holds holy bread. Not every temple has answers. But, before you judge, do your part, and leave the rest to God. However, for now, let us learn what happened when David got to the Temple. He asked the High Priest for food. OMG, this reminds me of the famous book of Malachi 3:10. The temple was supposed to always have food in its storerooms. But when David asked the High Priest for food, there was nothing but only the holy bread. However, the bread had a condition attached to it. No unclean bodies were to eat this bread. This bread was no common food. It answered two important questions in life. 1) it nourished the spirit and 2) it gave strength to the flesh. As believers, food from the temple must not be taken for granted. We must not take God's word for granted. OMG, these messages/devotions are not for our entertainment. It is better you use your data minutes on watching drama. Let me remind you, the devil is after your life. It is only the word of God where you can find and get help. When you read further the scripture, you will hear that the High Priest and other priests lost their lives for helping David get food and a weapon. The devil does not take kind to those that help you regain your life. This is why the developments outside Jerusalem at the hill called Calvary, Jesus gave his life for us to regain our life. Zvine refu izvi - it is life and death for one to regain his/her life. It is not about the logo of your denominations. Whether it faces left, right, and upwards, that logo is no longer carrying Jesus. He is supposed to be found in our hearts in the form of his word, and his commandments. And one of the commandments is love your neighbour. Anyone who eats the holy bread becomes uncommon. David and his men, after eating the bread, they became untouchable. Saul tried all he had in him to catch and kill David, but many times he failed. It all started in the temple. OMG, when you go to your church gathering, are you feeling better? My fathers, the church leaders, I come in peace. Do you realise that even if the church storerooms are empty, the Holy bread must always be there. Stop playing with fire. If it is money you want, then come join us in commercial business. God is watching you. You shall give an account of the many Davids of this generation you come past the temple looking for life giving food and died at your feet. Read, John 6:35 KJV — And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. If you follow the story of David's escape which never brought him back to the palace again, you will not see him begging for food again. You, yes, you, stop complaining about the attacks on your life. The devil knows what is in you. Saul knew what was in David. This is is why the seven other brothers of David were safe. Stop complaining, if you haven't already passed by the temple for holy bread, do so this morning. Seek friendship with Jesus. What are we supposed to do?
