🚨🛫 *Over 50% of foreign IT specialists have left Georgia*
Tornike Tokhadze, chairman of the Georgian IT Association, revealed that *at least half* of the *40,000 foreign IT specialists* in Georgia have departed, with the outflow continuing. He cited *regional competition* from Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Turkey, plus Georgia’s *political situation* and the *halt in EU integration* as main causes.
Foreign IT workers were initially attracted by tax incentives like the *“virtual zone”* and *“international enterprise”* statuses, combined with geopolitical events such as sanctions and the Russia-Ukraine war, which sparked a boom.
Tokhadze explained the recent rise in IT salaries as a result of rapid workforce growth, not natural market trends. He also warned that while the government’s IT strategy showed early success, *the trend is now reversing*, despite new plans for residence permits and tax breaks for startups.
