The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is ongoing in the United States ( June 15 to July 13, 2025), featuring 32 clubs from around the world.
FIFA introduced a new format and qualification system focused on performance in continental competitions between 2021 and 2024.
*Slot Allocation by Continent:*
•Europe (UEFA) has 12 slots.
•South America (CONMEBOL) has 6 slots.
•Africa (CAF), Asia (AFC), and North & Central America (CONCACAF) each have 4 slots.
•Oceania (OFC) has 1 slot.
•The host nation (USA) is given 1 slot for a club from Major League Soccer.
*Qualification Criteria:*
1. UEFA (Europe):
📌The winners of the UEFA Champions League from 2021 to 2024 automatically qualify.
📌The rest of the slots go to the highest-ranked European clubs based on UEFA coefficient points.
📌No more than two clubs per country can qualify unless more than two win the Champions League.
2. CONMEBOL (South America):
📌The winners of the Copa Libertadores from 2021 to 2024 qualify.
📌Additional clubs are chosen based on performance and ranking across the same period.
3. CAF, AFC, and CONCACAF:
📌Each of these confederations will send four clubs.
📌The champions of each continental competition from 2021 to 2024 automatically qualify.
📌If the same club wins multiple times or is ineligible, the next best-performing club from that confederation is selected.
4. OFC (Oceania):
📌The best-performing winner of the OFC Champions League between 2021 and 2024 will represent the region. That is how Auckland City that was thrashed 10-0 by Bayern qualified
5. USA (Host Nation):
📌Clubs from the USA, li the best-performing MLS clubs.
