*TSA Welcomes Government’s Assurance; Urges Action on Misinformation* The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) highly appreciates the official statement of Government of Manipur dated 16th June, 2025, assuring full help as per the wishes of the bereaved families and preparedness to receive the mortal remains of Late Miss Lamnunthem Singson, of the Thadou tribe, and Late Miss Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma, of the Meitei community with dignity and honour to their respective homes. TSA also expresses concern over false narratives circulating on social media, including claims that Imphal Airport is inaccessible for the family of Late Lamnunthem Singson. Such misinformation undermines the peace sincere efforts of the government and has the potential to flareup communal tension. It is also unfortunate that some vested interests/individuals/organisations are politicizing the issue for their own interests, which are best known to them. TSA would like to reiterate that this is not a time to propagate own narrative for scoring brownie points but rather to stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. We urge the Government to monitor and act firmly against those spreading hateful comments or rumors during this sensitive time. Let us honour the departed with unity and truth.
