A mosque in Southampton is on fire!
A fire broke out at the Bashir Ahmed Mosque in Portswood, Southampton, UK, on June 15, 2025, at 11:19 BST.
The blaze started in a flat on the third floor of the building housing the mosque, prompting an evacuation.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service responded, isolating gas and electricity and checking for fire spread.
By 13:30, the incident was scaled back, but Portswood Road remained closed for hours.
The cause is under investigation, with fire officers and Hampshire Constabulary on scene. No injuries were reported.
