Full Road Closures on N2 / M13 – King Cetshwayo Bridge Demolition

From 18:00 on Saturday, 21 June to 04:00 on Monday, 23 June 2025

🛠️ Reason for Closure:
To demolish the remaining half of the old King Cetshwayo Bridge (M13 over N2) as part of the N2 and EB Cloete Interchange upgrade. This is necessary to ease congestion and improve safety.
🚧 Affected Routes:
M13 (near Westwood Mall):
▪️ Eastbound: Closed at Essex Terrace Interchange
▪️ Westbound: Closed at 45th Avenue (45th Cutting)
N2 (between EB Cloete & Umgeni Interchange):
▪️ Northbound & Southbound: Fully closed in this section
▪️ N3 Westbound (Durban → Pinetown): Ramp to N2 North closed
▪️ N3 Eastbound (Pinetown → Durban): Ramp to N2 North closed
▪️ N2 Southbound at Umgeni: Closed – Use M19/Umgeni Rd as detour
▪️ M19 ramps to N2 South: Closed
📌 Please Note:
✅ The demolition is part of critical upgrades to add extra lanes on both the M13 and N2
✅ Traffic control and safety measures will be in place
✅ Truck drivers: Use alternative routes like M4, M7 or M19
✅ Public transport operators: Make sure drivers are informed of closures and detours
