(7a)
Systemic circulation is the part of the circulatory system that carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle of the heart to the body’s tissues and returns deoxygenated blood to the right atrium. The process begins when the left ventricle pumps oxygen-rich blood into the aorta, which branches into arteries delivering blood to organs and tissues. Capillaries facilitate the exchange of oxygen and nutrients for carbon dioxide and waste. The deoxygenated blood then returns to the heart via the vena cava, entering the right atrium.
