🍽️ Sadza, or Pap, has been a staple in Southern Africa for many years, and the recipe has remained largely unchanged. You simply boil water, add maize meal, and mix over medium to high heat before serving with a relish. Due to its simplicity and low cost, sadza prices are often very affordable, ranging from free at many braai outlets to around US$0.30 in supermarkets like OK. However, the younger generation is getting creative with the recipe and ingredients. One young Zimbabwean chef we encountered likes to spice the sadza with Royco, while another adds veggies and cooking oil directly into the sadza instead of preparing them separately.
