🩸 The issue of pricing continues to plague Zimbabwe's health sector. A recent receipt circulating on social media shows that one individual was charged US$1000 for blood by the National Blood Service.
There has been a significant decline in blood donors as many potential donors, especially those with limited means, feel there is little point in donating blood that they or their relatives cannot afford in an emergency.
In the past, donors were not only thanked for their generosity but also received perks like preferential rates and priority, which incentivized blood donation.
There is an urgent need for the government to address this shortage, as blood transfusion is an essential service.
