These vehicles don't have a clutch and are seen as easier to drive, particularly in traffic. This often makes a typical ex-Jap manual car around US$500 cheaper than its automatic equivalent. Many people have had traumatic experiences with hill starts and driving in traffic, leading them to avoid manual cars after getting their license.
