Cabbage is often mocked as the Kapenta of crops 🌱—many see it as inferior. But in the market, it has held its price well over the past few years. In 2022, the price per head was around US$0.50. Today, the lowest price for a small head is still US$0.50, while an average head usually goes for about US$0.60. Prices often hover around US$1, occasionally exceeding that. This shift comes down to how we use cabbage. While it used to be boiled, nowadays it’s mostly enjoyed in coleslaw 🥗. We’ve also seen a rise in rice and chicken consumption, which were once considered luxuries. And no chicken and rice meal is complete without coleslaw!
