🇺🇬🇰🇪 On this day, *9th June 2006* - history was made in Kampala. The Uganda Women’s team, the *Lady Cranes*, defeated *Kenya Lionesses 24–0* in what was the first-ever rugby match between the two sides, and also Kenya’s first women’s international test match. That game marked the beginning of a fierce rivalry and gave Uganda the *first of their seven wins* over Kenya in women’s test rugby. The return leg of the inaugural Elgon Cup was played on 12th August 2006 in Nairobi, where Uganda edged out Kenya 3–0, securing the *first-ever Elgon Cup title* - one of three they’ve gone on to win. As of today, *Uganda has played 39 test matches*, and *Kenya 45*. The two sides are set to renew their rivalry on Sunday, 15th June 2025, in Madagascar, during the ongoing #wrac2025 (Women’s Rugby Africa Cup) tournament.
