The wise discern the difference between kṣetram (the field) and kṣetrajña (the knower), between matter and consciousness.
Our sense organs cannot perceive this distinction—it must be understood through the scriptures. The key difference lies in their nature: Consciousness is Satyam (the real), while matter is Mithyā (dependent reality).
Matter does not exist independently; its existence is borrowed from consciousness. Only when we recognise matter as Mithyā can we rise above the fear and instability of the world.
This understanding is essential for our freedom and the attainment of spiritual liberation.
