The victim died in police custody on June 8, initially suspected to be suicide. However, a post-mortem revealed signs of assault including head injuries and neck compression, raising serious concerns. The officer was arrested on June 12 by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and Internal Affairs. IPOA is seeking more time to finalize investigations, citing fears of witness interference.
