SGA SECURITY UPDATES
June 18, 2025 at 04:22 AM
*Motorist Advisories – Morning Rush Hour | Wednesday June, 18, 2025*
(Issued by SGA Security)
*1. Anticipate Heavy Traffic*
Expect congestion on key corridors including Mombasa Road, Thika Road, Waiyaki Way, Lang'ata Road, Ngong Road, and Outer Ring Road between 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM.
CBD access roads in Nairobi (Haile Selassie Ave, Kenyatta Ave, Moi Ave) are especially slow-moving due to merging traffic from feeder roads.
*2. Exercise Caution Despite Dry Conditions*
Road surfaces are dry but dust, debris, or faded markings in some areas may still pose risks. Stay alert and avoid speeding.
*3. Avoid Unnecessary Lane Switching*
Keep to your lane unless overtaking. Sudden lane changes during congestion increase the chance of minor collisions and slow overall flow.
*4. Give Way at Junctions*
Be patient at intersections like Nyayo Stadium Roundabout, Globe Roundabout, and Westlands Interchange. Obey traffic signals and directions from officers on site.
*5. Increased Bodaboda and Pedestrian Activity*
Expect heightened activity near markets, schools, and residential zones.
Take extra care in Eastlands, Githurai, Kangemi, and Mlolongo where foot and two-wheel traffic is high.
*6. Use Alternative Routes Where Possible*
To ease your commute, consider bypasses like the Southern Bypass, Northern Bypass, or Dongo Kundu Bypass to avoid city-center snarl-ups.
*7. Maintain Safe Following Distance*
Even on dry roads, avoid tailgating. Maintain at least a 2–3 second gap, especially in fast-moving lanes.
*8. Vehicle Readiness*
Ensure your lights, brakes, mirrors, and tires are in good condition — especially for early morning travel when visibility may still be low.
*Note:*
Stay tuned to real-time traffic updates, Adjust your departure time where possible to avoid peak bottlenecks.
Stay alert. Stay safe.
