*FUOYE Ranks among Top Nigerian Universities, Shines in 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings*
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has achieved a significant milestone, ranking among Top Nigerian Universities in the prestigious 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. Topping the national chart is Afe Babalola University, which secured a global ranking within the 84 band, followed by Covenant University and Redeemer's University in second place (201-200). Only thirty-six (36) Nigerian Universities gained global recognition, with FUOYE placing globally in the 1501+ category, affirming its growing relevance and commitment to sustainable development in the global academic space.

The THE Impact Rankings assess universities based on their performance and contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
FUOYE recorded commendable global placements across several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For SDG 1 (No Poverty), the university was ranked within the 801–1000 band, while it performed significantly better in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), securing a spot between 401–600 globally. In SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), FUOYE was placed in the 1501+ category, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve health-related initiatives. The university ranked 1001+ for both SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). In the areas of SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), FUOYE consistently placed within the 801–1000 range, indicating steady progress in sustainability and innovation. Additionally, for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—a critical metric reflecting collaboration and global impact—the university ranked 1001–1500, with particularly strong scores in research output (61.2) and strategic relationships (74.4) aimed at supporting the goals.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Olubunmi Shittu, expressed profound delight at the university’s latest achievement in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. Speaking on behalf of the university management, Professor Shittu commended the relentless efforts and commitment of the academic and non-academic staff, emphasizing that the ranking is a testament to FUOYE's continuous drive for excellence, innovation, and global relevance. He noted that despite being a relatively young institution, FUOYE has consistently demonstrated its capacity to compete on the global stage through strategic planning, inclusive governance, and a passion for impact-driven initiatives.
In his remarks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategic Planning, Research, and Innovation Linkages, Prof. J.O. Ogunwole attributed the accomplishment to institutional teamwork and an unwavering commitment to excellence in sustainable development practices. Also speaking, the Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, Prof OS Ayanda praised the hard work and commitment of the University Innovation and Digital Technology Committee during the data submission process. He extended special appreciation to the Director of ICT, Mr. Samson Durojaiye, and the Registrar’s Office—notably the Personnel Office and Academic Affairs Unit—for their critical support and coordination throughout the ranking process.
FUOYE’s performance in the 2025 rankings highlights its progressive role in advancing sustainable development and its continuous drive toward global relevance.
